Essential Information
Air Travel
Air Travel
Direct Air France flight from Paris and domestic flight operated by Ethiopian Airlines
Ground Transportation
All transfers are provided in 4x4 vehicles driven by highly experienced drivers. 4 passengers with luggage per vehicle. The sometimes challenging tracks make transfers long and demanding! We ask for your patience and kindly remind you that these journeys are the only way to discover truly exceptional places!
Electricity
You will not have access to electricity during your stay. For your cameras, GPS devices, and flashlights, ensure your batteries and power supplies are fully charged beforehand.
Food
Given the climate and location, fresh vegetables and fruits in quantity are rarely available, and they deteriorate over long journeys. Our cooks prepare simple yet varied meals based on grains, pasta, fresh or canned vegetables, and goat meat. Great care is taken in washing vegetables to prevent intestinal issues. If you wish—and we highly recommend it—you may supplement with energy-rich foods brought from France in your luggage. For example: cereal bars, dried fruits, etc.
Water
We provide water from jerrycans sourced from local wells. You should bring water purification tablets for safety. For washing, you will have access to 2 liters per person.
Hygiene
We urge you to be vigilant about hygiene, which should be a constant concern to avoid traveler's diarrhea and more serious infections. We strongly recommend washing or disinfecting your hands (hand sanitizer) before eating. Our cooks, for their part, wash vegetables with a few drops of bleach.
Tipping
It's the gesture that matters more than the amount. However, here are indicative amounts you may give on behalf of the group to the local team. We suggest a minimum budget of €10–25 per person, which you will share and distribute in envelopes to each member of your travel team.
Local Currency
The local currency is the CFA franc. 1€ = 650 CFA F.
Plan for a minimum of €50 for personal expenses (tips, beverages during 4x4 stops, etc.)
Photography
In this region where tourism is still very new, many nomads do not wish to be photographed, nor do they want their camels photographed. We advise you to always ask permission before taking people's photos and not to pay for photographs.
Time Difference: 1 hour behind France in summer, and the same time in winter.
